Οι Γερμανοί Einstürzende Neubauten (“Νεόδμητα Καταρρέοντα Κτίρια”) είναι ένα experimental σχήμα που σχηματίστηκε στο Δυτικό Βερολίνο το 1980. Το group συνήθως κατηγοριοποιείται κάτω από industrial και electronica ετικέτες, παρόλο που κανένα μουσικό είδος δεν μοιάζει ικανό να περιγράψει τι στο καλό είναι αυτοί οι Einstürzende Neubauten. Η μουσική τους θα μπορούσε να περιγραφεί σαν μια προσπάθεια δημιουργίας experimental μουσικής, με βάση όμως πάντα τις ιδιάζουσες και προσωπικές τους στιλιστικές επιλογές και ευαισθησίες. Οι Neubauten πάντοτε πειραματίζονταν με νέους ήχους, αρχικά με noise προσανατολισμούς και πιο πρόσφατα με κέντρο τον ήχο της σιωπής. Το 1981 κυκλοφόρησαν το πρώτο τους LP “Kollaps”, που παραμένει μέχρι και σήμερα η πιο πρωτόγονη και ρηξικέλευθη προσπάθεια τους, η πιο αγνή ίσως έκφραση της μοναδικής αισθητικής τους. Το album είναι ένα συνονθύλευμα από punk rock παίξιμο, industrial προσέγγιση μέσα από τη χρήση αυτοσχέδιων «μουσικών μηχανών», ηλεκτρονικών ήχων και «επιστρατευμένων» για την περίσταση αντικειμένων (μεταλλικά πιάτα κτλ.). Όλα αυτά και πολλά άλλα προσδίδουν στο δίσκο σημαντική ιστορική αξία και κάνουν το concept του να μοιάζει ελκυστικό. Το clue της υπόθεσης; Δύο δεκαετίες μετά την πρώτη κυκλοφορία του, εξακολουθεί να εκπλήσσει με την αλλόκοτη λογική του.

Germany’s Einstürzende Neubauten (“Collapsing New Buildings”) is an experimental music band, originally from West Berlin, formed in 1980.The band is often classified as industrial music or electronica, though neither really applies well in describing what it is that Einstürzende Neubauten does or sounds like. The band is best described as creating experimental music with their own personal stylistic sensibilities. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Blixa Bargeld is probably the best-known member of the group. One of the band's "trademarks" is the use of custom made instruments (usually, but not always, made out of scrap metal and building tools) and noises, in addition to standard musical instruments. Neubauten has always experimented with sounds, originally in noise music and recently in silence. In 1981 they released their first LP “Kollaps”, their most primitive and radical effort, the purest expression of their original aesthetic. The album is a mixture of rough punk rock tunes and industrial tunes using self-made music machines, various electronic sounds, and found objects such as metal plates. This makes the album both historically significant and conceptually intriguing, of course, but what's most interesting about this album is that it still sounds surprising decades after its release.
